Looking For The Best Miles Credit Card Right NOW?

What’s the best miles card right now? I get this question A LOT! And I’m not a pro so I usually push people to ThePointsGuy.com or some travel gurus on IG. But I do have a personal recommendation of a card that I’ve had for about 2 years now. I love it. It’s never let me down. It’s the Capital One Venture X. AND, I just found out there’s a special bonus deal of 90,000 points for signing up with a referral link. (With some caveats of course).

*I’m not an affiliate. But these links will lead to my referral, and if you sign up and get approved, I also get some bonus miles! We would both win 🙂

What are Points/Miles?

If you’re unfamiliar with miles and how they work, I suggest you keep following or sign up for my email list because I’m writing another blog that helps break it down. But BASICALLY, you can add a decimal point in the tenths spot and call it money. 90,000 miles= $900.00 That’s if you’re getting a 1:1 ratio of miles to points, which is usually the case of redeeming your miles for travel. So…a credit card bonus of $900…sounds pretty good right?

Why This Card?

Well let me tell you why this is not only “good” but extremely excellent and quite rare. It’s difficult to find any sign up bonuses above 60k or 70k right now, because banks are catching on that folks are knowing how to use these to their advantage and not just wasting them. This card also pays for itself in a multitude of ways.

The annual fee of the card is $395. Immediately, you will receive a $300 travel credit (and this happens annually). So when you spend money on this card for travel (flights, hotels, rental cars), you will be reimbursed up to $300. (wow). Apparently they recently added a caveat to this where you have to book that travel through the capital one travel portal (but it’s still worth it in my opinion). The C.O. travel portal offers flight price drop protection and usually offers the same price as the airlines.

There is an anniversary bonus of 10k miles. Remember 10,000 miles = $100.00. So you’ve already made your money back.

You get 2x miles on every purchase. So you don’t have to think about what you’re buying and whether you’re getting 3 or 4 or 1 pt for each dollar spent. It’s simple. You get more miles when you use the capital one travel portal, 10x for hotels and 5x for flights.

You can get reimbursed for TSA precheck and Global Entry applications for $100 (which is the exact cost I believe.)

There are plenty more perks you can read about on your own.

The Bonus

If you’re looking to get this 90K bonus, you will need to spend $4,000 in the first 3 months. Obviously, this isn’t easily accessible to everyone. Usually what I do, if I don’t actually have $4000 to spend (excluding rent) is SAVE up a bunch of things you need to buy, and hold off until you get that card. Another tactic, is to ask your (responsible) friends if they’re needing to make any big purchases, offer to put it on the card and have them pay you back. This way you can make that 4k mark and get that 90K bonus offer.

The bonus will only be available to those who haven’t had a Capital One credit card previously. And if you apply through their website or on the points guy link, you’ll only be eligible for 75,000 miles. Which is still good, but you’re leaving 15,000 miles or $150 on the table!

So … if you have never had a Capital One card, and you’re ready for a hellovalota miles…apply now and let’s get you on vacation!

I don’t know how long this offer will last. I only saw it yesterday when recommending the card to a friend. So if you’re considering it at all, I would jump on it soon!

In conclusion, Capital One Venture X is an excellent credit card for people who want to collect miles for travel. The 90k bonus can be earned by spending 4k in 3 months and is incredibly enticing. The annual fee of $395 shouldn’t scare you away because you will receive a $300 travel credit, and 10K anniversary points so the card is worth more than it’s annual fee every year. And if you sign up with my referral link, you’ll be eligible for 90,000 miles and I’ll be eligible for 20,000 miles. A win for everyone!
